Great dane anal glad & feet absesses

I have a 5 1/5 yr old femal great dane that has 2 issues.  Anal glands that need expressed every 3 - 5 weeks.  I have tried pumpkin puree 2TBLS every day and changing her food.  She also gets sores that look like inflamed zits between her toes when she is in the yard alot and especially in the spring.  

Any suggestions?

I neglected to mention that you should give her paws a soak in an Epsom Bath at least once a week for 15 to 20 minutes for that condition. The Epsom Salts will draw out what is irriating her paws. Make sure that she doesn't drink the water because it will have a laxitive effect.

Your dog seems to have allergies. You need to wash her paws when she comes in from the outdoors. My Bullies have the same problem. If they start licking them it makes it worse because yeast get between the toes. Your Vet can give you steroids for the condition but it is not good to keep the dog on steroids for a long period of time. I give my dogs Benedryl when their allergies are heightened. It works well enough and is not harmful to them.

I don't know why the dog has to have her anal glands dealt with so often. What has the Vet said about it?

I had a Great Dane, and she did have the skin allergies but did not have the problem with the anal glands.

There are others here that may be able to give you some advice with that issue.
