How can you treat an blockage in a dog without surgery(can't afford)?

My dog Kota started acting strange yesterday. He is a known chewer and may have swallowed something. He is refusing his regular food, but will still take treats and people food. He has not pooed since Friday. We gave him pumpkin this morning in hopes he would pass whatever he ate. Thus has not helped yet. Any other tips?

I am sorry, but it's the first chance I've had to log in here for days. I see your question was Christmas Eve. Three days later, I hope Kota is all right.....

An intestinal blockage -if that is what he has -is massively serious. Honestly, if you suspect he has that there is no home remedy that is going to help him, unless you are very lucky indeed. If it is a huge piece of cloth, or a big square piece of plastic....how is that meant to pass through his gut without medical attention? Some smaller things might, and a laxative can flush them out. But otherwise what you could be looking at is a dog in serious pain and with bowel necrosis, and possibly -vomiting feces!
That's a heck of a gamble to take.
Even an X-ray may not always show up what is causing the blockage. Sometimes they need an exploratory abdominal surgery (if in the opinion of the vet, the symptoms show a bowel blockage to be hghly likely.)

I hope and pray Kota isn't one of those dogs. I really DO hope he just had a badly upset tummy, and may have swallowed something that came out the other end....

Firstly, you need to work on his chewing (if he is still okay, that is) You need to research how to work with him to discourage his chewing non-food items. If you can't do that research, then I ask you "Will you go the extra mile for your dog?"
Will you find out how to -just because you love him? And because you know he loves you and depends on you for guidance?

And secondly -you MUST find a way to provide for his current and future medical needs. You will also need to research what available help there is for assistance with vet bills....charitable help, insurance help, Care credit, bank overdraft arrangements, or whatever is available at the moment.
Start saving for him. You might find it hard to save any money each week, but you HAVE TO -for him! You have to start putting aside money every week as a safety net for his vet care in future. Even if it's only a few pounds or dollars.
You have to treat him as if he were your little brother.

I just hope he was okay, and sorry to be late with my reply.
