I question some posts

I have noticed a trend lately of people posting obvious trama problems with their pet,
Most these cases require immediate Vet attention. I think they are doing this to upset people.
Most of their questions require urgent care. They never reply back or give status of their pet!!
There are  several good hearted people on here who try to help. It's sad a few resort to this
to entertain themselves. It's obvious they should not be posting an emergency for their dog
on a dog website. They should be trying to save their pet with a Vet.

Mark, I honestly feel the people who post urgent questions about their dogs when their dog needs emergency care, (obvious to us) are not doing itto upset us or anything like that.
You know -to be honest I think they get a situation with their dog, most likely quite suddenly, they don't know which way is up, they google their worries, hoping to find an easy (often vet-fee-free) solution...they are probably hoping some home remedy or something will solve the problem... and some may not have enough experience with keeping a dog.
Yes it's misguided. But look at it this way. If they were cruel, or didn't care at ALL they wouldn't even bother checking in here.
And why don't they post back?
Many reasons, either they get too busy, they forget we are human beings and not answering machines, they forgot which site they got their answers from, they are serial questioners about anything they need to know or look on these kinds of sites as encyclopedias to help them at the time....
It doesn't matter. Just give the help they are asking for, or anything else that might be useful such as "What the heck?? Get your dog to a vet NOW!"

Karla....Good Luck...! I hope you will not have any messages, unless it is from someone who wants a new pet...! Bless your heart. Thanks for helping all those wonderful pets.
I will donate...I keep a container handy in my house...I put all my pennies in it, and I call it "Pennies for Pets"...(what else?)
When it is full , I give it to the local shelter. I will be sure to donate extra this time...in loving memory of TwoBits.
I hope you and the pets at the shelter have a good day....!

Unfortunately, it's always been this way & I've been here for years.....

We have lost valuable members because of just what you describe...They just can't stand the suffering (From the posts) any longer.....

I have suspected a Troll every now and then, but normally not....

I take a break ever now & then as sometimes it really gets me down, too....But then I think maybe I can help just one more dog and it all begins again....

The NOT responding back bothers me the most.....I consider it lack of courtesy, but who knows......I wonder about alot of these guys at night and usually never have any update, I'm sorry to say.....

I volunteer for a Rescue daily....Yes, days bring sadness, but they also bring Joy.....We are overfull & so are our foster homes. Money is always tight and we have to make decisions daily on who gets what...We have about zero community support, yet we get calls daily for more to help....The hard part is saying we have NO room.....I'm heading down there now to do paperwork & I dread if there are any messages on the machine.......I hate to listen to them!

So, Here I am just plugging along and hope my day brings another creature (4 legged or 2 legged) some kind of happiness.....Hope you all have a wonderful day....I will be back tonight.....Wish me luck that this will be a day without new messages....  :)

Oh yes, for those that can, please donate to your local rescues...Even if it's just $5....You have no idea how far we volunteers can make $5 go......

Take care, Karla

I never thought about it that way Connie? I would think they at least respond back after you give good advice. There are so many dogs out
there people try to rescue everyday. I think people don't realize that
cute little puppy because a dog someday? It's a shame some do not
want the dog then. The poor shelters and foster homes this time of
year are getting full. It's breaks my heart.

Hi Mark...
Yes..some of these posts really are questionable...I question them because I know that if I were in that situation with my dog, I would be rushing to the vet no matter what the cost.  Unfortunately...there are so many people who do not have the financial means to care for their pets when an emergency arrives, and with todays technology, the internet seems quicker and cheaper...and some help is better than none....My heart goes out to not only the owners of these pets, but also the pets themselves...there are many people who get animals, thinking that all they have to do is feed and love them. They do not plan for the high costs of vet bills during an emergency situation....so here they are, looking for any suggestions that might help them.  I am sure that this forum has convinced many dog owners , who find themselves and their dog in an emergency situation, to get to the vet...no matter what the cost....and it is in part,Thanks to people like you, who watch this forum, ready to help, who recognize that the dog needs immediate vet care....and tells them to get the dog to the vet Now...!
I really don't feel that anyone who posts a question on this forum, comes here to just "ruffle our feathers"...
but if they are, then at the very least...they certainly are keeping us on our toes, and on top of the game when it comes to quality answers..!
Mark..every post we read and answer, is just another possibility that we have helped a dog in need.
That is why we are here in the first place....right?  So keep doing what you are doing...the best you can..wheather it is offering advice or support....it does help.
