Is Rosemary Harmful to Dogs

A good friend on here recently told me about an issue with the herb Rosemary and its interaction with dogs. I had never heard of this before, so I did my own research and the results were quite an eye-opener. Thanks Karla. I have been amazed the FDA haven't followed up on their own concerns expressed way back, but my guess is they realize they kind of encouraged some manufacturers to change to rosemary in the first place, so now they can't really be seen to have changed their mind and then face the onslaught of bad publicity. It would be interesting to find out what alternative preservatives those on your list are using, just out of curiosity. Tony

Great & Well Written Article, Tony......After reading this, I got curious and decided to check out ALL the foods in my house.....Yes, I rotate through foods here!!  :)

I want to say that these foods are NOT average foods....These are considered "Top of the Top", based on ingredients, protein sourcing, free-range and/or organic proteins, veggies & fruits, plus either No synthetic Vitamins/Minerals Or if synthetic is used, none cane be resourced from China...Also, I take into my choices; background & knowledge of each company, their policies, any recalls and their track record (So to speak) over a period of years. I must add that My Crew and I LOVE each of these foods AND Companies for many reasons......

Here's what I found:

"MY PERFECT PET"-- Lightly cooked frozen food--NO Rosemary

"STELLA & CHEWYS"-- Dehydrated Raw--NO Rosemary

"DR. HARVEY'S ORACLE"--Been producing Pet food & supplements for many years..The "Oracle" Line is New- (Dec. 2013 I believe). This is a dehydrated complete mix w/Freeze dried RAW TRIPE! It does INCLUDE Rosemary.

"PRIMAL"--Raw or dehydrated raw--NO Rosemary

"NATURE'S LOGIC"--Canned or Dry Kibble--Both INCLUDE Rosemary

"HONEST KITCHEN"-- Dehydrated RAW--This is the company I spoke about that is changing their complete line of foods to TAKE ROSEMARY OUT! This will be NO easy task, but they said they have enough consumers questioning it, so it's coming out.....Some of their foods have already been changed, some are in the process....GREAT COMPANY HERE!!!

There's my list......Again, very interesting read...I will be watching this! Karla
