Grrrrrrr .. where is the oops icon... typo in title should read "dog" vs. "do" ...
I can imagine how scary that must have been! Like humans, dogs can choke on anything at any time. If you have a dog who bolts food, the chances of choking increase. There are training exercises you can do to help your dog take treats more like a lady instead of a beast and learn self control. :-)
(The following exercise comes from Dogwood Dog Training in Houston, TX)
Begin by holding several small treats in your left hand. Hold your hand slightly below your dog's head, and let your dog see the treats. Slowly open your hand. If your dog moves forward, quickly close your hand. Once your dog backs off the treat and looks at your face, open your hand. Use your right hand to take one treat from your open left hand. Give your dog this treat. If your dog waits patiently, feed him one treat at a time using your right hand to feed. Your left hand holding the treats remains open and only closes if the dog moves forward.
THANK you so so much ....... we will try that!
