there is a site called petside.com it is kinda like webmd but for dogs and cats if you go to the vet section. maybe that can help you some.
i think she should get a xray, keep ya posted when i talk to the vet
Since your dog appears to be an extraordinary chewer and swallower, you're just going to have to keep an extra sharp eye on her and make sure she has plenty of safe chew toys. The carpet could easily have killed her. Hopefully there's nothing left, but she really needs an x-ray to see what is left behind. She's not out of danger yet.
she hasn't vomitted today or had diareah, i am however calling the vet tomorrow morning to let them know even though she didn't vomit atleast to have her looked at because of the carpet she swallowed and threw back up. she seems to be acting normal but i always like to be on the safe side.
Is she still vomiting? I'm concerned as well. She could have an obstruction or damage from the strings.
Let your vet know if she's still vomiting!
hi jaybay..my dog has been chewing on my carpet, when my carpet gets loose its wicked stringy, last 2x she threw up it was balls of string from the carpet, i'm wondering if thats the cause, maybe she ate so much of it, that its coming right back up.
I can definitly bare w/ you, it is a sad thing, The vet hospital that my pets go to are great, hopefully she'll be fine, i'll definitly keep you posted. thanks

What a relief! I'm so glad you made the call. :-)
Sorry if I sounded curt in my initial response. My only excuse is that (1) I was just leaving the house; and (2) so many times we have obviously serious emergencies posted here because the posters only want to avoid paying for vet treatment. I try not to get angry because I understand when people hit hard times - I've been there more times than I can count myself. It's just so frustrating to hear about any animal suffering due only to lack of funds and know I can do nothing concrete to help. Even surrendering the dog to a shelter like the SPCA is better than allowing an animal to suffer a horrible death. (OOPS - I see it may sound like I assumed you were in that category, and I wasn't and I don't. Just taking an opportunity to vet a bit if you can bear with me.)
As long as your pup is drinking and keeping herself hydrated, that's a very good sign. I'm in Houston, TX and and perfectly understand the dangers of heat exhaustion and heat stroke in our 4-legged friends. It's more common than most people realize and just as dangerous to dogs as humans. Let us know how she does! :-)
I called my vet and she said to keep an eye on her today and if she continues call them tomorrow, she said it could be a virus or it could also be from the heat, we live in new england and for the past couple days it has been in the 90's muggy and humid. She has been drinking alot of water. Hopefully its not to serious, well see what happens tomorrow.
thanks for your answer, i definitly wont take any chances, i will bring her in first thing tomorrow if she continues

Your dog needs emergency care NOW. Foamy vomit can indicate a volvulos (twist) in the GI tract and can be fatal without surgery. Please call your vet and tell him you suspect a possible case of bloat and get moving!! I hope I'm wrong, but don't take any chances.
