JRT, 9yrs.: Throat spasms

JRT got into trash...perhaps consumed small particals of nut shells...pecans, walnuts, acorn....

Gave him 2 tbl. spoons of vanilla ice cream.  Didn't help much.  Then, A tablespoon of melted butter!!!  Has been going on for 2 hours now.  Not lethargic...just quiet.  When it begins it happens several times in a row.  Lying in my lap.  Rub his throat lightly.

Allergic reaction?  What do you think?  25 mg. of benadryl?

Help folks!!!

Hello.  He's fine!  I gave him one 25mg. of Benadryl & another 8 hours later.  He woke up in the morning bright eyed & bushy tailed!  Barked his head off at everyone all day!  No more Christmas nut sell spills allowed.
Thank you Margot49...Merry Christmas!!

Thank you so much for replying!  I called the vet.  Confirmed it could be allergic reaction and/or irritation.  Gave him 25 mg of benadryl at 8:30pm MST & again at 4:00am.  He sleeping & snoring all snuggled in the bed!  We'll see what happens in the morning.  Thank you again, much appreciated!

Afraid there might be something stuck or irritated so don't think I would be rubbing his throat.
Can't advise you on using the Benadryl. If an allergy, there might be other symptoms, not sure.
I hesitate giving advice in this situation but you might try a few "small" pieces of damp bread. Maybe a trip to the Vet is in order.
