I used garlic powder. My dog never has gotten fleas. We take her hiking and everything. You have to use a decent amount. I guess every dog is different though, so maybe it's the type of dog, you have. Either way advantage works and is easy to use.
I used the Advantage you get from the Vet. Without looking it up, can't recall what was in the OTC Advantix that was causing the problems.
And, as for adding the garlic, glad that worked for someone. Never worked here or for anyone I know. LOL. Woukdn't hurt to try, I guess.
Advantage is fine to use. Andvantix is what was causing the neuro issues. But if you don't want to use meds, I am telling you adding garlic to the dogs food keeps fleas away. I have always used it. My mom taught me to do so. It works and is natrual.
What caused the problems, the meds that were in the Advantage for ticks? Our dog is old, maybe I just better concentrate on preventing the fleas.
Personally, I don't recommend the Advantix. Know two dogs that had neurological problems on it. I have used Advantage in the past on dogs and cats with no problems.
I use Advantix for dogs, and Advantage ll for our cats. I've never seen a flea on them, and its supposed to kill ticks, too
There are topical applications you can use like frontline, Advantage, you get from your Vet. I do not recommend the ones sold at the pet stores!
There are also once monthly oral meds. My son and daughter give their dogs Comfortis with no problems and are happy with it. Given once a month.
I used Interceptir for years but they are out of production right now.
My Vet recommended Trifexis which also takes care oh heart worm and internal parasites. I think the main side effect was vomiting. I was hesitant but got it for my Chihuahua mix and did what the tech recommended. I give half a pill in some canned food in the morning and the other half in canned food in the evening and she has had no problems.
I had not had fleas here in years but steps some on the dog, neighborhood cats have them, I am sure. The Trifexis kills the adult flees quickly and have not seen any.
Well hello, first off start adding garlic powder to your dogs food. That helps keep fleas away. Then bath them with a flea shampoo. I still use this mild oatmeal one on my lil girl. This has always worked on my dog for many years now. If you still have fleas I would say use advantage, you apply one time and its good for three months. Good luck, let me know if it works for you.
