Lump near penis

I was giving my 6mo Pomerat a bellyrub last nite, and discovered a nickel sized lump above, and to the side of his penis. Can you tell me if this may be serious, and if it is common in puppies?

If it is both sides, and the lump comes and goes, disappearing completely at times, then it's likely to be the 'bulbous glands' and if your little boy hasn't been neutered yet, they will keep popping up! These are absolutely harmless, and just part of his sexuality. (so long as that is what it is!)

For a one-sided lump that doesn't go away, then it could be a reained testicle. Is Unlikely to be a tumour in a very young pup. But the very best thing is to get vet's advice, and have the lump checked.

I asked if it were on both sides because some people think the bulbous glands in make dogs are lumps, rumors, etc.
could be a retained testicke but can't say I have ever seen one present like that but that is only my experience.
My question would be, can two testickes be felt in the scrotum?

I should add that IF it is a retained testicle the only way to correct this
is to neuter this little guy as your vet will go in and remove it during the
regular neutering process. It IS NOT good to leave a retained testicle
as later in life they have been known to become cancerous and a dog
with a retined testicle SHOULD NEVER be used for breeding as this is
heredity and will be passed to future puppies he produces, can be
carried through the male and female puppies into other breedings from
any puppies he sires and continues down through the lines...just FYI
Since your little guy is 6 months old he is old enough now to be neutered
before he "becomes a man" and his hormones kick in causing him to start
"marking" around your home.(even if he is not used for breeding)he can
and will smell any ladies in season around your home area...and a neutered male is a very loving pet and companion.
IF he has any of the symptoms Margot49 asked you about IF it is discolored you should consider taking him in sooner rather than later
to see your vet.

Has your little one been neutered? I am not a vet but I have had this happen in the past...it was a "retained" testicle which had not come down
into the sack. Can you feel a little knot lower, towards the end of his
penis between his legs you can usually feel two very small "knots" in
this sack...unless one has been retained and had not dropped down
this is NO major problem if this is what it is but please to ease your mind
and to find out WHAT this is for sure please have your vet chek your 'lil
guy to be sure.

Is it on both sides? Flat or raised? Hard or soft? Discolored? Can you gently push it in?
