The saying is so true "If you can't afford the vet, then don't get a pet"  Too many people kid theirselves and think that their animal won't ever need medical attention, and then the poor thing has to suffer without care when it does need help.

Excuse me if I'm so easily lost, but I can't follow this thread.

It starts on August 11, 2012 by Rogers, with a post and 4 replies, and nothing from Rogers.  Then, more than 5 months later, January 27, 2013, this thread is pulled out of history to complain about judgmental people, followed by more replies that seem to support something previously in the thread?

I wonder if anyone thinks Rogers is still visiting this forum, the record shows only two posts, one here and one on cancer, both August 11.  Who is this thread speaking to?

Not a complaint, I'm still just a student of human nature, being only 73 I haven't had enough time to get to that level yet.  I do appreciate the excellent and professional advice I've received on this community, so please don't take me as ungrateful, just lost.

Thank you for this.....I'm sick of ALL of it, too! I also believe it's the reason we loose so many good responders on this forum! It's too heartbreaking to read & if others are like me, it haunts them at night and not worth the anxiety.......

Jenbarkley:  Please, have a look at my profile page...View & read the story under the Santa picture.....These people LOVED their dog, too!  I believe their exact words were, "She's our Baby!"  This dog was as close to death as I have ever seen.... Our rescue had already offered assistance AND paid her medical bills previous to this! When the owners missed her followup appointment (Friday), that I had already paid for, I had to intervene! Why did they miss it? All I got was they were going to take her Monday! She would have been DEAD by Monday!

This is what happens in my world EVERY day! EVERY DAY! Every day, I dig in my own pockets to help a neglected animal that HAS an owner that loves it!

Please, do not come on here and bash those of us that are trying to make a difference....I don't have time to be here, but I make time hoping I can help someone out! If that makes me rude, then so be it!

Hang around here for awhile and read the continuing flow of neglectful questions & see if you don't change your views.....

Oh Yes, Guess who wants their BABY (that they loved), back? It will be over my dead body!!!!      Karla

Have you ever worked with a rescue organization? Have you seen firsthand what happens when people take in an animal and then deny it necessary medical treatment? Have you ever picked up an owner-surrendered dog whose eye was popped out of its socket because its owner "couldn't afford to take it to the vet"? Some of us actually see/deal with/pay for the consequences of irresponsible owners.

It's a fact that if you don't have the money to take your pet to the vet then you should not have pets. Love alone can't heal everything.

Personally, I'm sick of people starting their questions with "Don't tell me to take my dog/cat to the vet because I can't afford it." We all make financial choices. When we take in an animal we also take on the responsibility of providing it with food, water, shelter and medical treatmen for the rest of its life. Some people don't understand that and honestly, you sound like one of them.

Seriously I have never commented on a post but I am so sick and tired of judgemental people. If someone has the courage to reach out to another person asking for advice please remember that If you cant say something nice..dont say anything at all. It absurb and quite rude to tell someone who is obviously trying to do right by an animal and to have you say...im not trying to be mean or rude but if you cant afford a dog...blah blah blah... seriously if you have to start your sentence with that then you must know that you are rude. I cant imagine how you could suggest that the dog go to a shelter where it will not get the individual love that this person is trying to show it. Everyone of us has at sometime made a decision with out hearts and not our wallets. So please the next time before you decide to be judgemental remember the last time that you choose with your heart and acted out of love. If you cant remember when that was then I feel sorry for you.

I really don't mean to be rude in anyway but if you had worms coming out of you, you would find a way to get medical attention. I'm sure your puppy is in a lot of discomfort. If you just really can't, you should take your puppy to a shelter or Humane Society, they will gladly take them and get them the needed medical attention. This is probably 99.99% an infection and needs to be treated with antibiotics and followed up with the necessary shots that dogs need to keep them healthy, especially if they have already been weaned from mother's milk and are older than 5 months.

Hello it is hard when puppies have worms. I do not know where u live but I actually purchase the puppy shots at Tractor Supply for less than $6.00 and I gave my puppies their injection. For worms I bought the dewormer from petsmart and gave it to them as in dictated. However later on I found a powder that I give to my dogs for worms, parasites, viruses, and many other things like ticks and flies. This has been wonder I paid about $14.00 and it will last my a couple of years. I have helped my last puppy with parvo as well and has lived no vet involved. If u need help let me know I know a little bit about animals. However there is also low income pet clinics that can help. I just got my dog neuter for $20.

Definitely agree with Margot..Puppies need series of shots especially when they are young. It is VERY important...I know Petco has shot clinics on Saturdays. You can get your puppy all the shots needed for about $60.00. As for the worms, a stool sample is needed to prescribe the right medication..Good luck!

It is not unusual for puppies to have worms.
Not to sound mean, but maybe this is not a good time for you to have a puppy, financially.  Your pup needs a series of shots also.  Would hate to see you dealing with Parvo or Distemper.

You really need to take a fresh stool sample to a Vet to determine what type of worms you ate dealing with.  Most likely Round worm but it could be Taoe worm, etc.  the right medication has to be prescribed.

Maybe someone can loan you the money or a Vet will let you make payments.
