My dog started her period

I have a 10 month old pit bull and she started her period today. How long do they usually bleed for?

You can get her spayed during menstrating time...any breed of dog, should not breed until the female dog has cycled twice...and pit bulls are known for chronic depression during the cycle and even so much as beleive they are pregnant...aggressive breed, especially the American pit bulls or Staffordshires have trouble in these areas...but, even after a litter, some are good maternal moms and some are not,,,,very finicky breed...
My personal belief on breeding is: if you choose to breed that is your right as a pet owner, but remember all the dogs in the world who get placed and later they do not want the pet or loose the pet or do not have the financial security to  take proper care of the pet, and pit bulls are not always welcome in many communities and they get abused...
So my opinion is that be very sure you can place the puppies in a very good home with good quality people, do not be one of those who sell to just anybody or in the Walmart parking lot...

Yes. My boyfriend doesnt want to spay her because he wants to breed her. We fight about it all the time. I want her spayed. He sees what she is going through now (she seems so depressed) so I think he is going to give in and spay her when her period is over.

It will be a few days anyway.  Like women, each female dog can differ - there is no "standard" time of bleeding.  Is there a reason she hasn't been spayed yet?
