My dog was hit by a car please help..

My dog was across the street today(she never crosses the street) but today she was on the other side of the road sniffing at my neighbors garbage when a car sped past and clipped her. Her name is Cricket, and shes a farm dog, amazing animal. I saw this happen so i ran over. The man did not stop, but i managed to get his plate number. The dog received a blow to the head and head only. She was bleeding out of her left eye(the side she was hit) and out her nose and mouth. We took her to the vet and during the ride she started convulsing and howling(which by the way was one of the most difficult thing i had to do, hold her down) the vet said remarkably she had no broken bones, not her skull, not even her jaw. He said she took most of it to the left side of her jaw. He then said she has a chance. So my question is do you think she will fully recover ? What are the chances ? Do dogs get brain damage easy ? He said she might lose her sight too(on the left side) She was in ruff shape when i last saw her, bleeding and convulsing, i thought she'd have to be put down, but could it be she just has a major concussion? and do dogs heal okay after receiving a concussion? i just want a few facts and so on to try and give me a picture of what will happen, cuz right now shes in intensive care and i cant wait to find out from the vet.
Please and thank you everyone
also if anyone runs the plate "dadopa" ontario plates and finds anything tell me,
cuz this man has to pay for what hes done,
didnt even have the courtesy to stop, or try and avoid her.
Poor baby farm dog

I'm so sorry to hear. Today my puppy got run over by a motorcyclist and very similar symptoms. on x-ray no fractures, but bleeding left eye/nose. Also vet said she could lose an eye. I didn't take the plate number but the man came back to say damn, sorry, I have dogs too. I told him at least he didn't hit one of my small kids and scooped the limp body off the pavement. Drivers have accidents and I understand that, but I balled and cried. I'm hoping the next month progresses well. I looked at the times you listed...my vet didn't say anything about a day to two weeks, but I've held her in my lap for over 9 hours today and will make the most of every moment I can just in case.

my dog appears to have been hit by a car.. I for s her on the side of the when I went searching for her. I did not see her collar or chain and it wasn't at the dog house either. She wasn't busted up. It appeared to be there black marks on one side...maybe Tire marks..but if so for the print to be like that seems like she would be crushed. She has bleeding on right eye..nose..and spot of blood on her ear. Thère was some chalky looking yellow stuff on one of her legs and in her mouth. She wasn't completely froze..but stiff. She had darken areas on her upper left shoulder..maybe internal bleeding...the yellow chalky stuff was in her mouth and looked like a pill that was wet but didn't completely dissolve..what could the yellow chalky looking stuff be
pobeeb, I hope your dog is okay. Di she get checked properly....x-rayed and everything?
It is very strange that she didn't have her collar still on her when you found her, and that it wasn't nearby.
I do hope she survives and recovers.
I can't tell you what the yellow chalky substance might have been, unless it had come from the car which hit her.

I am so very sorry for you both. You did everything possible but sometimes medicine can't pull off the miracle. Cricket was very lucky to have such a wonderful companion in her life.

What a horror story. :-( There really is no way of knowing if she'll make a full recovery. The good news is that she's going in the right direction. I'll add my prayers to yours. :-)

thank you, and the newest news is the dog is alive, it can stand and walk. She responds a bit when you call her name, but she might lose her sight in one eye. Vets still cant tell if she has any bleeding in her head, and they also informed us that she could die in anywhere from an hour to 2 weeks due to a blood clot. So im keeping my fingers crossed and saying my prayers for her.
