Nervous

My Beagle Star gets nervous while in the car.  The weird thing its only when we drive over 55 miles per hour.  She sits in the bottom of the car in the back passenger feet area.  She never lays down or sleeps.  She just sits there with a nervous look to her.  Has anyone had any experience with this?

Some dogs like car rides, and others just don't.  For safety reasons, it's always best to put your pet in a crate that is strapped in the vehicle.  In your case, a crate would probably help Star feel more secure about travelling as well.  Dogs who are crate trained view the crate as a safe-zone - a place to decompress from stress and relax.  It's the one place to go that they won't be bothered and they don't have to "guard" or worry about the whole big wide world - just their own little area.

One of my dogs got horribly car-sick as a puppy, and still doesn't really like going for rides.  Using the crate helped her tremendously.  On long trips, we still have to give her a little reglan for the nausea, but she is no longer fearful about getting in the car.
