My Misty had a boyfriend, Jet....well he was with her for 11 years so I guess you could call him her husband! LOL
Well Jet got neutered, and Misty was still entire. They used to do whatever they liked when she came into heat, and I let them get on with it, I used to do my washing or cleaning and leave them in the garden.
Jet was always absolutely exhausted, and Misty was ready for a fast frisbee game when it was over!
The only time I broke it up and went out saying "hey hey! what's going on here?" was when they got crashing around upsetting the wheelie-bin and breaking plant pots!
Happy days....hey? Yes they were.

This is more than possible, it's likely. And yes -even neutered dogs can mate with a female! They can even go as far as to form a "tie" (when both dogs get stuck together back-end to back-end)
I have seen it happen!

But as the years pass after their neutering, they find it increasingly hard to do this. Because the levels of testosterone in their system gets less and less.
Also this will vary from dog to dog. It's probably less likely to happen if the pup is neutered very early in life.

But most male dgs will show some interest in a female who is on "heat". Even other female dogs show interest sometimes. That's quite natural.
It really is nothing to worry about. At least the female cannot get pregnant! I'd just let them get on with it. The only reason to stop them would be if the male dog is bigger and heavier than the female, in which case mating can hurt her back very badly. And if they do that, do keep an eye on them to make sure that they don't hurt each other or the female gets flipped on her back or twisted into an awkward position.

BUT if the dog has only JUST been neutered, then unless you are a breeder and have a good breeding plan...then don't let them mate, as there is a great risk of the male still having active sperm, and she could get pregnant. I would wait at least a few months before you let them do what they like.
