I stumbled across your message while frantically looking for some type of cure for my little corgi, I came home last night to find he had a hot spot on each hind leg. Through my readings i have found that teatree oil & coconut oil are benificial for the spots. But I will try your remedy as well, I really dont care which one works as long as my pour baby is better soon! and I thank you in advance!
OMG! That's incredible. I have 2 westies (a 14-yr old and a 4-yr old). The 14-yr old gets spots sometimes and I've been told it's staph, and she's going to get it from time to time. All I do is clean the sores and apply Bactroban ointment, which is the same Rx they use for humans. This seems to keep them under control, but I'm interested in the Brandy treatment. Do you give this orally to the dog or do you place the drops on the sores? Do you treat the dog once a day for x amount of days or what is the script? My first westie lived to be 17 and had bad bad hot spots, so I'm really interested in your reply. I will tell you that there is a great eye wash at Whole Foods that is wonderful for westies. Clears the eyes right up and the itching subsides. It's called "Anitra's Herbal Eye Wash" and you can buy it at Whole Foods. Tuck this tidbit of info away because if your westie doesn't have eye allergies now, he or she most likely will develop them as he/she gets older.
Anxiously awaiting your Brandy reply.
maybe the get drunk and can't stratch at them, without being to wabbling so they leave them alone. lol I know that the vet I worked for would just shave the spot and clean it with rubbing acholol to dry it up.
Wow, that's amazing. I know that when you sleep, your immune system is boosted. Maybe it helps them sleep better and let their own bodies take over?????interesting!
