I am gald to hear that he is doing better. If he is eating the pumpkin and the yogurt #2 should have already come about by the time I am posting this. I hope the sample is negative.
Keep us posted.
Thank you for responding, I took him to the vet and I am now giving him Immodium A-D (1/2 of a 2 mg tablet every 8 hours for 3 days) and feeding him canned pumpkin and plain yogurt along with a little bit of his dry food (I feed him Eukanuba [sp?] puppy for medium breeds) and making sure he gets plenty of water. As soon as he goes #2 I have to bring in a fecal sample and then hopefully they can tell what is causing it. I will let you know the outcome ASAP (:
I'm glad to hear that whatever was wrong with your dog when he was a puppy was resolved and he is now a happy, healthy dog! In the future, however, please don't give him human medications until first checking with your vet. Many human meds are made to be time-released, and if you crunch them up, you destroy the time release mechanism and the active ingredient is released all at once, which can be very dangerous depending on the medication. Also remember, medication doses are gauged by the weight of the person or animal taking them, so by you giving a cocker spaniel puppy an antibiotic that was for a human, a six pound puppy got a dose of medication that was meant for a person weighing over 100 pounds!
Fortunately, everything worked out for you and your puppy, but in the future, please do be careful and don't give him anything (and ESPECIALLY NOT IBUPROFEN OR TYLENOL) that is meant for a human without first consulting your veterinarian._

Listen to Red and Ginger and make an appointment with your vet ASAP. In a 16 week old puppy, diarrhea can be caused by something simple, like worms, to something more complicated, like coccidiosis, to something deadly, like parvo.
PLEASE do not attempt to medicate him yourself at home. Many human medications are deadly to dogs and cats, and trying to treat him as you would a human baby could end up having deadly consequences. It would be a good idea, until your appointment, to replace his drinking water with a sports drink designed for rehydration, like Gatorade or even Pedialyte, something along those lines. This will help to replace the electrolytes that get thrown out of whack by having diarrhea for so long. If the diarrhea goes on for too long,, not only will he dehydrate (which he probably has already), but loss of electrolytes and potassium from severe diarrhea can cause heart arrhythmias and can be very dangerous.
Please post back and let us know what the doctor says after he has seen your puppy.

Red's right. Take him to the vet, asap. You cannot afford to wait too long with a young pup like this. Dehydration is a serious issue with pups.
Hopefully it will be nothing serious, and might respond to fasting with just water for a day, then light diet for a day or two. But get him checked out first!
I hope he will be better soon.

I am going to ask you what you are feeding him, but it is necessary to get a Vet to examine him ASAP. At 4 months old he is going to dehydrate quickly and you need to get to the bottom of what is causing this.
There are just too many things that will cause this to list. You want to have the most serious conditions ruled out right away. Diarreaha for more than 24 hours can be serious for a dog.
Please post back and let us know what the Vet finds and let us know how he is doing.
