My 7 week old 1.2 pound Powder Puff Chinese Crested was accidentally dropped onto grass by a child yesterday. Of course it is Memorial Day Day weekend and it took forever for us to find a vet that would even see him and that has hospitals open at that time. We got him there within 2 hours and it was determined that he suffered a concussion. When it first happened, he did lose Consciousness for approximately one minute or so. On the way to to hospital he did regain Consciousness and was moving all of his extremities. He never had a seizure and did respond to his name. He then began to vomit and had respirations that were rapid and a bit labored. The doctor determined by x-ray that he did aspirate. So he started IV fluids, sedation and pain medication, antibiotics, and steroids for the concussion. I believe he said that he did put a nasal catheter in for oxygen treatment as well. He said that his condition was guarded. I know that there is no way that anyone can give me assurance that is concrete but any would surely be wonderful. I will not hear anything until tomorrow by 10 a.m. . Does anyone have any experience in this area? Any encouragement is very much appreciated. And if you are a prayer warrior, please pray for Matteo. He was given to me just Wednesday for an ESA. MATTEO means, "Gift from God." I was given a 6 hundred dollar dog for anxiety and three days later, this. Please keep me in your prayers. Thank you.
