Please help

My 6 yr old golden retriever has something on his lower jaw. As you can see in the picture it is about the size of a quarter. My guess is tapeworms or possibly staph. Any information is helpful. Thanks

Hi. Jerry is right, this needs a vet to examine it properly. The photo is very useful. It looks to me slightly swollen, ulcerated and inflamed, which would point towards a bacterial infection. But there are other possibilities too. Tony

No surprise here, youR golden needs to be examined by a vet.

Important points is what is happening over time, growing, shrinking, stable,  irritates the dog, or not.  Is it just hair loss, or is there some soft tissue, with fluid inside.. a hemotoma?

Our Westie (very small dog) had a hemotoma on one ear, the vet drained and prescribed some heavy duty medications.. a steroid shot too as I recall.  Even so, the ear is still thick where the hemotoma was, enough so that that ear no longer matches the other erect ear (the  normal position).
