Question on my dogs skin

I rescued a dog from philly 2 years ago. He was surrendered in the worst condition. He had mange (bald) tape worm and flea infection. He was dying in the kennel giving up. He was pulled by a foster and was nursed back to health. I got him a few months later he was beautiful you couldn't tell he had all this. About a month or so later I took him to the vet he had an ear infection the dr put him on predisone saying his mange can come back. Well it did. At the visit with the ear infection he was diagnosed with being a dog with allergies. We been treating the mange with ivermetiven. He was sick from it but gave it anyway. This has been on going for a year. Banfield said there is nothing more we can do for him. I changed his food to grain free he seemed to clear a bit with skin rashes (he had them bad). I was advised of this new vet so I started going to him, he's a great guy. Well he said your dog don't have mange he has a sever skin infection he put him on antibiotics and off he went. He cleared beautiful. About a couple months later he had suspected mange well he got it back. Vet started weekly injections of ivermetcian. 7 weeks he cleared. About 2 months later I take him back the vet said he had auto immune disease. Started him on meds, at that time he had lymes too. He was put on atopica not predisone due to his mange history. Well I just brought him back now he was tested with mange again. 3 mites alone was found on his eye. Vet sent us with ivermectian injections. I was giving him he's a lab pit 1.5 mm of it he's 75 lbs. he started having tremors and foaming from the mouth. I was giving it daily and the dog did not like it. I had called the vet he said keep giving it. I questioned the dose cause to me it would be for a 150 lb dog. The vet said take the needle off give it orally. Never heard of a injection being given orally. I stated doing it that way he was still foaming from the mouth. I stopped it for a few days cause before the mange injections he was at the vet for toxicity from his 5 meds he was on. So it's been a few days I stopped the injection. I'm going to restart it giving half. I like his vet I trust him but being in vet tech school I question things.

Was his dose of ivermectian to high?
Have you ever heard of injections being given orally?
This auto immune he has is there other ways around it?
Does it sound like he will have a life time of problems?

Hello my dog is a pit lab mix. He's estimated to be 4-5 years old. He was tested each time for mange with the scrapes. Last visit I saw the mites he has Demodex thank god not scarpoic. Banfield we took him to cause we were new dog owners and thought wellness plan was great. The vets there hated him called him aggressive and charged us 28 dollars to restraint or sedate him at visits. Turns out with bew vet he discovered he can't be in the same room as us. He's protective. Vet said foaming is cause iver tastes bad. The injection is oily conpared to the other iver I used to give. The vet said first visit the new vet said it isn't mange it's skin infection. Gave antibiotics and we left. I don't know the names off hand.

As for the ear infection predisone and ear drops were given. His ears smelled so yeasty. This was Banfield vet.

The new vet said auto immune he explained the rashes where they were what they mean. He was diagnosed with pemphigus sorry can't spell it. I did notice when he's outside he gets red. Vet said there is no accurate tears for it and no accurate tests for allergies. I feed him grandma mae country naturals all grain free. He had a heart worm test done and tested positive for lymes antigens. He was put on an antibiotic I have to wear gloves to give. Chlor something. I'm skeptical with it. He was on that and 3 other antibiotics along with the auto immune meds atopica. I started an online funding for him since I don't work I am a care taker for 2 parents one dying on hospic the other pre dementia. His pics are in the site.

Vet at Banfield did say predisone may bring mange back. Sure enough it's been a nightmare with this. This dog is a mystery

I know his immune is low prob cause of his life from previous owners.  Thanks for your response

Wow! First, Mange, Tape worm and fleas are not serious.....What is serious: Foaming at the mouth/tremors! These are symptoms of poisoning!! Your Vet should not have said to continue!!!  There's alot going on here & I'm having trouble following it....How old is this dog?
Banfield hospitals are notorious for ordering too many tests, guessing at a diagnoses, finding new problems, etc. ! They work on a commission and the company has a set amount that the Vet must make....DO NOT USE ANY Banfield Hospitals.

Next--Mange--Was a skin scrape done at either place? How did they diagnose mange OR the bacterial infection? Which kind of mange does he have? Sarcoptic or Demodectic? Very important because treatment is different for each kind....

Yes, Ivermectin can be given orally or injected.....However, I DO NOT know if the strength is the same.....I  also don't know if the dose is too high.

Mange is a sign of weak immune system...The steroids (For the ear infection which by-the-way doesn't treat ear infections) from the first Vet lowered the immune system even worse and caused the Mange to come back. What was given to treat the actual ear infection? Ear drops or oral antibiotics?

New Vet- Did this Vet do a skin scrape to check for Mange Mites or Bacterial infection or just guess? Also, how did this guy diagnose the Auto-immune disease? What Auto-immune disease is it? Name , please....I assume-Blood test were done? Do you have copies of the results? How about Lymes??? Was a tick borne test run from the blood sample? You said he got medication here-What meds were given this time?

What food does he eat?

Cyclosporin does even worse damage to the immune system......Read here:

Now the MANGE is back......That's as far as I can go for now.....Let me know some of the answers......Thanks, Karla
