Seizure

My dog tio had suffered 2 seizures he was with my parents and I was at my work it happened very suddenly. he did have kidney disease but was doing ok days prior to this happening he started having breathing difficulty and as I say he seemed pretty well up until then.  my parents had been to the vet and when I got home I sat with him while he suffered 4 more seizures I decided that I could not see him suffer and we went to vet and tio got the jag to sleep as u can imagine has been upsetting.  my question is I found out when he took the first seizure When I was home with himhe struggled to do a poo outside and it looked strange. on checking this poo next day I discovered that it is a whole rope type toy and he had to poo it out between seizures is it possible that this is the issue that hastened his having fits as his blood pressure was sky hi in combination with his kidney problem as he did not seem to be in a serious stage until his breathing problem started is it likely earlier in the week he swallowed it and it put his blood pressure up . Thanks for any help

Thank you that's one of the kindest things someone has said to me.iv never seen him swallow his toy without it being a bit more chewed up. He is a jack Russell . His breathing problems started on a Monday and I could tell he was having problems and it seemed to ease a little before the seizures happened on the Saturday while passing the toy. He still liked to play up until the day before seizures happened. Thank you it's hard to lose him

I am so sorry about your loss of dear Tio.

In all illnesses, especially if very weakening, there can come a 'tipping point', at which point things can go downhill, because the body is vitally weakened. With a dog this can happen very fast. And it is typical of a dog to be very stoical and get on with life even when unwell.
Many people whose dogs pass away from an illness, say "He/she was just fine a few days before, ate food, went for a walk....etc"
If he had been struggling with kidney disease, even though apparently doing quite well, it's possible this led to other complications. High blood pressure is often associated with kidney disease. And high blood pressure can lead to many things going wrong.

Swallowing the rope toy probably did not help, but would that have led to seizures?? It would have stressed him, yes. But he did appear to pass it.

My own opinion is the kidney disease may have led to other complications which his body could not take any more.
In my opinion you did the kindest thing to let him go peacefully.

My heart goes out to you as I know how hard it is to let them go. Bless dear Tio in Spirit.
