Sore on my dog's ear.

My dog has the sore on here ear. It looks like a zit. But its hard. The skin is raised around an area where a white hard substance is sticking out. The skin is not discolored in any way that I know of. The white hard portion looks like a ball on top of the mound but you can tell it is more stick like and continues into the mound. What is it?

yeah.  My mom is going to take her to the vet, she is due for her check-up and shots and things and is going to bring it up.  I was just worried it might be a burrowing bug.  It does sound like what you described though.  But it is nice to know what to do if that happens to be what it is I will be able to recognize it in the future. I'm not 100% sure, but it could be a sebacious cyst. It is possible this white stuff is a hardened fatty substance. Sebacious cysts can often be expressed, but if the fatty substance has gone hard it will have formed a kind of 'plug'

I think the best thing to do, this time, is take her to the vet to get this checked out. Just to be sure what it definitely is. If it's a simple sebacious cyst, the vet will probably squeeze it out, dab on a little antiseptic, and then it will clear up. If you have to pay a vet's fee for this, never mind. At least you will know what to do should it happen again.
My dog occasionally gets sebacious cysts, and they do look a lot like this.
But, as I say, I cannot be 100% certain.
