Supplements for Dogs with Kidney Failure

There's a lot of products available that claim remarkable success in managing and treating canine kidney disease - and this can be very confusing for owners looking to help their best friends. I have produced a piece that hopes to explain many of them and asks the important question ... 'do they work?'. This has been produced primarily for the Chronic Kidney Failure in Dogs User Group, but I would be very interested in your comments, suggestions for additions to the list, and your experience with and stories about using any of these supplements. You can find the piece at:

Thank you.

Thanks for your kind comments. It was a fairly tricky one to do, but it was interesting to gather information and write it too. It's certainly not exhaustive in terms of content, which means I'm probably going to be adding to it from time to time - and hopefully updating with any research results too, if they ever get around to doing any. This is a really well-researched, and well-written article, Tony, and I enjoyed reading it very much.
I can understand how dear to your heart this study is, and your determination to help dogs with renal failure. It was tremendously educational, and helped me understand a lot more than I did before.
Thank you very much.

Thanks Karla. Yes, it will probably end up being even longer, the more additions there are over time. It was a tricky one to complete, because (as you know) the evidence of success with many supplements is often more anecdotal than scientifically proven. And while I don't want to dismiss anecdotal evidence, I think there's a need for balance with factual and quality research data.
