Swollen Neck Glands

We took our almost 7 year old pit bull out on a hike yesterday in a big open field behind our home.  When we returned home, within the hour my boyfriend noticed that her neck glands were swollen on both sides.  It was as though she may have eaten something on the trail that might have given her this reaction but we are not sure.  She wasn't swollen before the hike so we know that something caused her glands to react like this.  We gave her some benedryl and the swelling reduced by half the size.  She is not having any trouble drinking, eating or barking and is acting normal and is not squirming when we are feeling her neck to check the glands.  This morning she is still swollen and I gave her another dose of benedryl but I am not sure what this could be caused by.  Should we take her to the doctor to get antibiotics or see if the Benendryl takes it away completely? Has anyone heard of or experienced something similar with their dogs?

This morning I noticed two lumps right below the jaw bone,on both sides,of my boy, a 10 year American staffordshire, acts normal . Should I be concerned ?

My dog was lost for a couple of days and my dog has the same thing! I am scared about it cause what I have read about it, it could either be an infection, allergic reaction or cancer. I'm just hoping it's not cancer! But I haven't heard anything else on it and I have another dog and don't know if it would spread to her! If you find anything else on it will you let me know and I will do the same.

It's hard to know exactly what could have caused this. My instinct is she might have been bitten by some insect, or had a bee sting or similar, or even come into contact with an irritant plant on the trail.
How is she now? I do hope there's some improvement.
