What do you know about Tramadol, 50 mg. for dogs?

Why can't I get an answer?  I only wanted to know why another website highlighted 50 mg of Tramadol?  I am curious because the vet gave my dog that dosage of the drug.

The dose is obviously different for different sizes (Based on poundage of dog).....What size is your dog? Tramadol ONLY comes in 50mg. tablets, but dosage is different depending on size.....Karla

The vet instructed me to only give my dog the tramadol if he yelped in pain or exhibited other pain symptoms and Rimadol didn't help.  The last time I gave it to him, he had exhibited his pain, but the pills didn't seem to help.  He was pretty far gone anyway and I couldn't stand to see him unable to walk, difficulty going potty, couldn't heist his leg anymore, looked off into the distance with an odd expression on his face, limped from right leg which was riddled with arthritis.  The worst pain originated under his shoulder, and xrays didn't show what it was.  Ultrasound didn't either.  I couldn't afford to take it any further (MRI, probably surgery, or maybe no cure at all.)  He had a good life, loved me as I loved him, was a wonderful watchdog, friendly, people person, loved to go on frequent walks, obeyed commands.  I had him for 11 years, and I expect "poor genes" and place where I purchased him, may have played a large part in his condition: weak bones and under-developed when I rescued him from breeder.  He broke his hind leg only two weeks after I bought him.  He lived almost 12 years, so I'm thankful for that, at least.  I would have bought him anyway, after first sight.  Thank you!

What is your specific question? Is it why your dog has to take so many pills or are you asking what the correct dosage is?

I know we had a Shepard and Husky mix on them for a few years before he died. Our vet recommended them as pain relievers. He had the dog on 8 pills a day, 4 in morning,4 at night. I know the amount startled me too but in dogs, thhey go by weight of the dog, different than people. Our dog had that hip displshia at 5yrs old and had bad joints since the operation. Our vet said safe for dogs. People, no. 8 is too much.
