What is the best food to feed dogs?

Friends - I am looking at a new dog tomorrow - eek!! It has been quite a while since I had fed Dais regular dog food since her kidney disease limited what she was allowed to eat. I have NO idea what foods are good vs. bad, best vs. better. Can you please tell me what you'd recommend? Tabby is a beagle girl around 2 years old.

I mix dry (Kibble) with canned food. My Westie also drinks a lot of water.

I buy 4 Health at Tractor Supply, their brand. It has high ratings in dogfoodadvisor.

I also feed no grain in the case of the Kibble.
