Whining after eating

I have a 3-year old neutered male miniature schnauzer I adopted about 6 months ago from rescue.  Almost every day as soon as he gets through eating (I feed him once a day) he whines for a few minutes. He might be playing with a toy, looking out the window, etc. but he is making whining sounds.  This is the only time he does this. If I take him outside he doesn't eliminate right away....that occurs about an hour later.  He has had regular vet visits with blood work..3 times this year so far between the rescue group and the adoption.  He doesn't seem sensitive to touch.  Any thoughts as to what might be going on?  It's distressing for me to hear him whine!

Thanks Linda!  That could be a good idea!  I doubt a toothache would be the answer as he is chewing on his toys with no whining.  I have sent his foster mom an email to see if she experienced this with him.  He doesn't "wolf" down his food and at 21 lbs I feed him about 1/2 cup of dry food with 3 tbl of canned or moist dog food.  He gets 1/2 turkey frank during training and some dry dog treats each day as well.  The vet said he had a little bit of padding and "love handles" on his last visit so we are trying to be careful with the amounts.  Anything is worth a try!

I wonder if this is toothache? That's a thought. You could have the vet examine his mouth perhaps?
I once had a toothache that was quite bearable and I could live with it...until I ate anything, then I was in real pain for a good half hour afterwards until it slowly died down.
