Within 15 hours

I had a 13 year old German Shepherd. I was out playing with her for at least 30 minutes on Wednesday. Thursday morning around 5AM I woke up because she was crying so loud outside. I figured it was just her arthiritis bothering her, or maybe she was having a bad dream, so I grabbed my iPod and went back to sleep. Around 8 that morning, I woke up to go to school. I always say goodbye to her before I leave, so I went to do so. She was laying in front of the sliding glass door, with her eyes shut. I figured, ok, she's old, she had a long night, and she's sleeping it off. I left her alone and went to school. I came back, and she was still there. She was breathing too. I went out there, and she didn't respond. I immediately knew something was wrong. I didn't have the money to take her to the vet right now, so I just sat out there talking to her and petting her, all day and most the night. She died at 10 PM. I don't know what could have gone wrong, and I'd just like to know if anybody thinks it could have been just old age?

I'm so very sorry about your dog. I guess you had known her most of your life, so you must feel very sad.
Like Holliee said, many times we don't get much warning when a dog gets very sick, and it is very hard for us to understand what they are feeling. Sometimes when they make weird noises it's hard to know if they need help or are just dreaming. My dog howls sometimes in her sleep.
It sounds like she was well-loved by you, and that was the last thing she knew -your friendship and love.

I am so sorry to hear about your pet and I will keep you in prayers as it is very hard to loose a loved one especially after that many yrs. At least like Chasha said you stayed with and and she knew she was very loved and you also got to play with her outside that 30mins. It's very hard when we don;t know why we lost them. My mother had an American Escomo Spitz and she was 8 and died in her sleep they also didn't know why. God bless you and yours.

I am so sorry for your loss.I know that it is so hard to lose  a furbaby after all them wonderful years.I will keep you in my prayers.As far as your question,It could have very well been her age.13 years for a large breed such as herself is considered to be very elderly.She may have had an underlying health problem that caused her to pass so quickly in that manner.One that wasnt obvious,Some pets never show any symptoms.You can take peace at knowing that she knew you loved her by the way you sat with her all that time.May God bless you.If you ever need to talk please feel free to contact me.Chan
