I shouldn't say I cant afford it its just not all the time and thats sounds bad to say cus I love my dog to death and would do anything for him. Being unemployed just puts a damper on things and have to settle with the cheaper brands. Purina1 is pretty good actually and my vet said giving him a lil bit of wet food like Blue Buffalo brand is ok to. I know I can probably find coupons online for others but just have to look harder thats all. I know alot of people like my mom makes her own dog in bulks. She boils chicken rice and puts fresh veggies in it to. My dog has a skin problem to so we have to watch out with the cheaper dog food if it does anything to irritate his skin or makes him puke, which it hasnt but I make sure. I will shop around and ask my vet if he has any vouchers or coupons.
Our any of you dressing your dog up for Halloween? I am entering mine in a contest on fb if ya win you get like 500 bucks on a card for Petsmart and i think some cash to. My problem is I have a pitbull and the costumes pretty much for little to meduim size dogs.
I buy my dog food from PetSmart and it's $50-$65 for a 35lb bag.
I'm not sure what you consider "expensive", but most of the better dog foods are going to be a little pricier.
The $50 bag: Neutro-Natural
The $65 bag: Hills 9Science Diet) W/D for gastrointestinal health
I've not heard of Rachel Rays dog food, but if I had to guess, she's just the marketing in front of it, and there's a big brand name behind her. Don't be fooled by clever marketing, as it's just aimed at sucking your wallet dry.
Good luck.

If you compare how much Nutro you have to feed a large dog (anywhere from 3 or 4 cups per day) as opposed to 5 or 6 or more cups a day of a grocery brand, the price of the bag doesn't seem as daunting. Something else to consider is that the dog is able to utilize more of the food, nutritionally speaking, so there is less stool to deal with when it comes to cleaning up. Not to mention that if you compare the nutrition statistics from the grocery store brands to those of the premium brands, feeding your dog the cheaper grocery store brands on a daily basis would be the equivalent of a human eating fast food every day of their lives.
