chihuahua with paralyzed legs

Hi i have a 4 year old chihuahua that has her back legs paralyzed. she started of with pain. she wouldnt let us touch her and she wouldnt eat or drink water. we would take her out to the bathoom but she was in pain. well a few days later she was her self again. she was happy and she was walking and eating. well 2 nights ago we notice that her backs legs we wobbly and they would give out. then the yesterday morning she couldnt walk. her back legs were just dragging around. we took her to the vet and they told us that we is healthy from the upper part that her lungs and heart are healthy but her back legs are paralyzed. she said that she will given us medication because my dog still has a little bit of feelings on her legs. the vet said she hopes that medication works because she still has feelings. since we got her medication yesterday my dog seems happy. she moves around and eats on her own but her legs are still paralyzed. is there any home treatments we can do to help her more so she can feel her legs and walk again? like any excorsises or creams or any tipes of massages? thank you for your time reading my mesage and i hope i get any sugestions soon.

Please google IVDD (Intervertabral Disc/Disk Disease) & read as much as you can......Your dog should be on strict cage rest for at least 4 weeks...She should NOT be moving around on her own!  Only carried out to potty & then back in to the cage.....4-6 weeks is the normal protocol to allow for the disk rupture to heal......This will be your best chance for her to walk again...There also is a surgery, it should be done in the first 36 hrs. of paralysis for the greatest chance of recovery......

Again, please study up on it & read everything & get her in a crate!!!!  ......good luck......Karla

Did the Vet even take x-rays to try to diagnos this?  I question the treatment without a diagnosis.
Since you have a small dog, I would try aquatic therapy.  If you have a bath tub fill it with enough tepid water so the dog cam swin,  make a sling out of something to hold her and let her try to exercise in the water for maybe 10-15 mins once or twice a day.  Limit her activities and no stairs.
Did this with my aunt's Doxie years ago and it did help over time.
