I"m one of the people that posted a complaint at the Consumer Affairs website. I had been feeding my dog Purina for many years and then all of a sudden, after I purchased a new bag, she was so sick. She is now eating Science Diet and doing much better. I did call Purina and was told that they had not been receiving any complaint phone calls....yea right! I won't be buying Purina again. I intend to call my dog owner friends and also speak to the store manager where I purchased this bag of food. Unfortunately, the store probably won't do anything because there isn't a recall on Purina Dog Food but I'm going to try anyhow.

I haven't read the reports yet, but I will. I know of many breeders who have fed Pro Plan for years without any problems at all, myself included. I have also fed Nutro Ultra and Blue Buffalo; the Ultra is good, the Blue gave our dogs horrible diarreha!

One thing that many people are unaware of was that back in the 1990s the federal governkment mandated that dog foods had to be made in such a way that is was not fit for human consumption. Too many elderly people were buying canned dog food because they could not afford to buy "human" foods such as meat. (you would have thought they would have considered giving seniors discounts for meat! They can get discounts everywhere else. )
Anyway, as a result; dog manufacturers now have added things like straw, road kill, euthanized animals, leather, metals and charcoal, just to mention a few things to our pet's food. They are allowed to eat it....we're not. Funny thing, the kibbles are so loaded with gravy coatings........why? Because when they left that off of the foods, the dogs refused to touch the food! Gee, I wonder why!
If the dog kibble does not say "Holistic" on the packaging, it is not FDA regulated and cannot be eaten by humans; if it is holistic food, people can actually eat it.

I don't understand how Purina can continue to deny that there are problems even after all of these complaints!  I really hope that these people are able to get some kind of satisfaction, if for no other reason than to gain some sort of closure.  Naturally it will not bring back their beloved pets but at least they will have the small comfort of knowing that something was done about it.  My heart truly goes out to them!

I just went and read more of these complaints...Truly heartbreaking......Why oh why do these companies not care about animals other than for profit? I'm so saddened.....Please people......Evaluate what your putting in your pet's mouths......Do not trust these companies......Do your homework.....Look it up online.....These foods are poisons!!!!!

I haven't and don't -use Purina food. But thank you so much for this. I was shocked and horrified to hear what these pets, and people went through! And it's been going on since the year 2000???! Oh my goodness!
Based on these saddening and tragic testimonials, don't whatever you do -go near any Purina foods with a barge-pole!
