Yes, Ginger's correct......If we knew the Size & age of your dog, we could better answer your question.....I believe that a Heart condition (Fluid on the Lungs) is more likely if this is an older, smaller pet....If this is a larger pet (Any Age) then BLOAT is possible.....
A Respiratory problem (Even Asthma) can be either size or age....
Either way, I think you have an Emergency on your hands & your dog needs help...Karla
I hope your dog is OK. I was just on guard with this in case it could have been a stomach 'torsion'. (When the stomach basically twists on itself) The symptoms of that are usually attempts to vomit (which could possibly sound like hacking or coughing) -which do not result in vomiting, but occasionally a small amount of white foamy substance can be brought up. I may have been on the wrong track, and this is more related to his throat or lungs....but a stomach torsion is a huge emergency.
You didn't say how old your dog is......Or very many details to go on.......That said, it sounds like a lung problem to me.....Could be a Respiratory Infection, Pneumonia or a Heart Problem.....It sounds as if your dog's lungs are full of fluid which will lead to suffication!
All of these ailments listed CAN be treated....However, I don't think you have much time to wait.....He needs to see a Vet ASAP.....Please, let us know what you find out.....Karla
I think you should definitely take your dog to the vet as soon as possible. This sounds like he is possibly vomiting, and it may or may not be connected with his throat. It could also be a stomach problem.
