dog suddenly acting extremely bizarre

My family has a terrier that is about 14 years old.....as far as I know she was acting normally before I went to bed..... I slept all day today, and tonight I hear some random noises outside my bedroom door, flopping tapping, etc....several hours later when I could be bothered to investigate, I see the dog pacing around by the front door, hind legs collapsing...walking funny and almost nervously...when I approached her she acted startled over and over almost like a full body jerk, and she keeps doing that again and again every time you get near her. She also acts very sedated and won't react properly to anything. The most I could do was look in her pupils with a light, they seem to be equal and reactive, perhaps slightly more sluggish than human pupils I don't know if that's normal or not. I think it's highly unlikely that she could have gotten into any poison or drug around here, but then again who knows... What could possibly be wrong with her?

It 'may' have been an allergic reaction to a bug bite, snake bite or even ingestion of a toxic plant.  At this point, I'm very glad to hear about the miraculous recovery.  :-)

Thanks for letting us know how your dog is doing.
I'm glad to hear she seems ok now. I wonder if this could have been some type of seizure?
It may never happen again. And I hope it doesn't. But if you see even the slightest weird behavior in future, I would take her straight to the vet to be checked out

I agree with Red.  It sounds like a neurological problem - who knows if it's related to a stroke or a physical injury further down the spinal cord?  You don't want to wait to have your dog examined, so please get her to a vet ASAP.  Yes, this really is an emergency!

Is ther anyone else home ? Did you try to take the dog outside? The dog may need emergency medical attention. You should take the dog to a 24hr. Emergency Animal Hospital.

There could be so many things wrong with that poor dog. Please update us on the dog's condition.
