I have a 7 yr old pitbull that has always been babied.  2 days ago my daughers noticed something stuck in his mouth when they were playing with him.  He loves sticks so I just assumed he had a piece stuck between his teeth, but when I looked there was something hanging from his gums on his top left side of his gums.  The only way I know how to describe it is that it looked like a fat tick hanging.  Obv it wasnt but it was dark and hanging half grape size and was hard (tooth like hard) and the attachment was skin connecting it to his gums.   He kept licking like he had something in his mouth.  It was there yesterday morning and last night it was gone.  I looked at the spot where it was and you can't even tell anything was there.  He is not the easiest to take to the vet not friendly with other dogs and strangers and I would normally just muzzle him but it being in his mouth makes it hard.  If you have any ideas of what it could be or just to know if i should worry and try and get him in to a vet.  Thanks

A small P.S. to this...
I'm scared of sticks. Sticks can cause damage to dogs' mouths, teeth, gums, and even cause choking if pieces are swallowed.

Yes, my dog likes sticks too. But I got her a plastic frisbee instead :-)

Oh my gosh! I have absolutely NO idea what that could have been. By now it will have been spat out, swallowed down and come out the other end...or whatever. But the main thing is it has gone! Is there no bleeding, or soreness where this was attached?

There may be no recurrence. Just keep an eye on him, I would say, and anything else peculiar that you see, or if he shows signs of being unwell, do take him to be checked out. But otherwise....bye-bye horrible mysterious thing in my dog's mouth!

(Once my dog had a cyst which was about 1/4 inch across. I took her to the vet for it to be checked out, and they said it was a benign cyst. One day it was there...the next it had totally disappeared!)
