how did you "meet" your best friend (s)

well i figured i'd post a happy topic on here....how did everybody "meet" their best friends?

i have two dogs. both rescues from the pound. our oldest is chester....we rescued him 3 1/2 years ago when he was just a little guy, he's now 4. my mom and stepdad went for a ride one day and some how ended up at the animal shelter. well needless to say they didn't leave empty handed. he's one of the best dogs i've ever had! our second buddy, lucky, was adopted after a rather sad loss. my cat was ran over by a car and after a few weeks my mom took me up to get a new kitten. well after much debating in the kitty room my mom wondered off to the puppy/dog area. we were watching the puppies play and there was this little black fur ball sitting in the corner all by himself. he was VERY shy and scared (which he's not shy with the family but is a TOTAL scardy cat!). of course we decided on the little odd ball sitting by himself. that was 10 months ago and now our little fur ball is a big beautiful 1 year old ....mutt of some sort.

10 years ago when my son was 15 he came home one day from school just begging for us to have a puppy his friends family had been looking to home. That's when we first met our Mia. She's a Yorkie/Jack Russell cross, looks mostly Yorkie though! She settled in with us straight away, didn't even cry for her mother. She became "my baby" though and has always been so protective of me. We all love her to bits. She is my little angel and has given me so much love and companionship. Whenever I am down, she is there for me. A true friend:-)

I lost my first dog about 2 and a half years ago. He got me through an abusive marraige, and passed away soon after we moved away from my ex. He was my super dog. He stayed alive just long enough to make sure I was safe.

After a year of mourning over him I decided it was time to get another dog. Although I had bought Doyle, I decided that since he rescued me, I'm going to rescue another boxer. So I began looking for a boxer rescue close to where I live. I found one about 4 hours away, and began looking through their profiles. Once I saw Maverick I swear I was looking into Doyles eyes, so I was immediately attracted to him. I began reading his profile and learned that he was 2 years old, he had heart worms, and had been removed from an abusive home! That sealed the deal right there. I knew he was for me and that would would be able to understand eachother. Maverick is now my baby, and best friend. He will lean up against me every day, put a paw on my leg, and stare up at me without blinking. I know he's saying "I love you Samantha." And every day I look down at him, give him a hug, and say I love you too Maverick.

We also recently Da Vinci our new puppy, who was found in a dumpster. He's my rambunctious little bundle of joy. He is the happiest dog I've ever had. You can tell every morning he gets out of bed saying this is going to be the best day ever! He cracks me up.

I met my furry buddy's brother and fell in love.  My Max was the last 1 of the litter and had no home.  I lived in another town at the time and had to leave but my in-laws picked him up & kept him until I could get into a place that allowed dogs - 4 weeks later I finally met him.  I crouched down, threw open my arms and yelled, "MAX!"  He came running and flung himself into my arms.  We've been inseparable ever since.

My brother brought our dog Sandy home as a tiny puppy and put her on my pillow early in the morning.  She stood there and squeaked.  It woke me up.  I was 15 years old then and so happy to see her.

That was 14 years ago and I thank god for every day that we get to share with her.  My father has since passed away and my brother now has a wife, family and home of his own.  I also got married and moved out.  Sandy lives with my mom and gram now and she is the light of their lives.  Some days Sandy is the only thing that can make my mom smile.  I live next door and get to see Sandy daily.  She's been a wonderful friend and we love her very much.

I was looking at the local SPCA website, which I do regularly just to admire the cuties, this time however it was a couple weeks after my family dog died (I was away at university), I showed my bf (he lives with me) the pic of one dog and he suggested I call and ask about it, so we did. We were given a lady's number, because the shelter was just aiding her in giving the puppies away, the dog we wanted was gone, she only had 1 left, but already had 2 ppl coming to see it, but she took our # in case. We were disappointed because we knew our chances were slim that 2 ppl would pass up taking the puppy home. However we got a call the next day, a family had returned 2 puppies after finding out their son was allergic. She sent us the pics, and we decided we wanted the lighter one, we decided to pick her up on the weekend, 3 days later, she was located a few hours away and we didn't have a car, of course after a few hours we decided we really wanted to get the puppy that day. We ran to the store and gathered all the supplies then hopped in a cab and met the lady half way, we got our sleepy puppy and she layed on my lap, sleeping all the way home.
