Anyway, if your dog hasn't eaten for 3 days, and is ill, there is obviously something wrong. This could be anything. If Parvo has been ruled out, there could be either infection/gasto-enteritis/eating something toxic/an intestinal blockage.....lots of things. I would definitely take him back to the vet, or even to another vet if you can, if you are not satisfied with what the first vet told you, even if it costs you extra money. For your dog, it is worth it. Good luck. I do hope things work out and he is better soon.
Do try making a new thread with your question. You will get more answers. Try to list all his symptoms too. It will help to get the full picture of how he is feeling.
Hi... I've read your blog and can't help but think that there's a possibility that your pup may have parvo.. vomiting and diarrhea are the two major signs, not eating and drinking is common too... if she's deteriorating quickly... that could also be why... i don't know where you live but in some climates, parvo can be extremely popular... i know where i am in the california desert, i was worried just last week that my dog might have it. turns out he doesn't but it's been three days now since he's eaten too and that the reason i'm on here tonight... trying to find an answer. i've spent $400 in 2 vet visits and they weren't even emergency visits! Plus, the next one, since he's not getting any better is going to be another $150 at least... it's tough when we get attached to our animals and i hope that everything works out for the best for you... the other two things i would ask about are worms since your puppy is so young, but as far as i understand it, that wouldn't have any vomiting effects and then maybe giardia... that's an intestinal parasite but again, doesn't usually have vomiting that i'm aware of... just a thought... hope you get some answers soon! good luck!
Also, have you changed her food?
Well then, if she seems stable, I would try to find another vet on Monday or even call the shelter and let them know and see if one of their vets will see her. So pretty much, she wolfs her food down and then throws up?? Have you tried wetting her food with water? Does that slow her down? My pup used to do that with his food and I think I tried everything to make him slow down, nothing worked. My vet finally told me something so simple and I thought it wouldn't work but did. He told me to have my dog sit and be calm, then give him his food, sounded silly to me, but it worked after a couple of days! Now, he has to sit and shake before he gets breakfast & dinner.
Anyway, just make sure you keep her hydrated with the water until you can figure out her situation.
It seems to be every other day. She was vomiting up her food because she wasn't chewing it so we started feeding her bits at a time and the chewed that and didn't get sick. She'll drink water from our fingers. Also, I don't know if this matters, but she always gets sick at night. Like 7 p.m. and later.
First of all, you need a different vet. When your dog is not eating and has loose stool/vomiting, there is an issue. They should of given her something. She is probably dehydrated. You should call an emergency vet asap.
You could try feeding plain cooked white rice with maybe a little boiled chicken in it, to see if she'll tolerate that. I would be worried though, especially if she isn't drinking. Pups that young can deteriorate fast. Good luck and I hope she gets better asap.
