my healthy dog died

I don't have a question I was reading the post on your site & it's so sad when a healthy pet dies not only sad but it's confusing. Our pet Sydney died suddenly about 3:30 in the morning she was perfectly fine the night before and played with the other dogs and us and during the night I heard her making noises & thought she was having a bad dream & when I checked on her she wasn't moving. It seemed she died from a heart attack or Stroke but it just doesn't make sense and now our family and the other dogs are missing her. Manny the youngest pup who was best buddies with Sydney is just laying around or sitting by the door waiting for her to return it's the saddest thing to see and my husband & I can't stop crying. Why isn't there more affordable Vet hospitals that specialized in finding out why healthy pets die? Vets are so expensive we drive almost 2 hrs to get good service and less costly.

I'm sorry to hear about your Sydney, it must have been so shocking to have her go so fast. When one of our dogs died last year, even though the other one didn't like her, she still seemed to grieve.  She followed us around everywhere for the longest time, and constantly sniffed our entire yard.  I agree with ginger899, its hard, but try not to let your dog see you upset.  Take Care.

Oh it's so sad about your Sidney, and I am so very sorry. It is scary isn't it, when one minute they seem fine, and the next have passed away. What does cause these sudden deaths...? I don't really know. But it is shocking.

I know animals do grieve for their friends and "pack members". Recently I lost an old good friend (3 weeks ago) He had been in hospital for 6 weeks before he died. My dog has missed him a lot. I keep upbeat with her and that does help. Sometimes I cry for my friend, but try not to let her see me too upset. She does definitely help to stop me getting too down. And I do the same for her.
