preparing stump for prosthesis

Has anyone had a dog with a prosthesis?  My Vet is willing to do a partial amputation for a prothesis, but no Vets around here have done this before, and so we're having difficulty finding  a Vet to consult with on the surgery of preparing the stump.  I'm trying to find the name/number of a Vet to consult- it doesn't matter what State. Thank you.

Hey girl,

'had fun in the moutains with the pups.  You're right- it's been incredibly difficult.  One University guy that does these operations for normal dogs with traumas (like car accidents) totally discouraged my Vet from helping my dog because she has cancer.  Can you believe that?  Your dog lived 3+ years, and another gal I talked to had a dog with the same cancer in a front leg, (also a Doby)  with a successful front leg prosthesis that lived a happy 2 years.  But this man totally tried to discourage my Vet.  Can you believe that?! (I'm paying the bills, not him!)   Takes all kinds, I guess.  Good to hear from you- I'll write soon.

My only advice would be to start calling every vet school in the country and asking to speak to Orthopedic specialists to ask if they have any information.

I suspect this will be a very difficult task.
