Please go to your health food store. There is a supplement with yeast flakes, vitamin b12 and garlic. I think they have to sayit is a mineral or vitamin supplement, but you can either mix it yourself, or buy it premade. No poison for your pets, no side reactions, no sickness, no hair loss. I am a dog groomer, have multiple dogs from very small to very large, and it costs me under twenty dollars a year to not have fleas, ticks, etc, etc. And, I live in the south where we have bugs year round. Please pass this info on to anybody that you know. this is a natural treatment, and I promise that it works. Wish I could say the same about all the stuff we have to put ourselves thru. Good luck, and please check it out.
Can you please let us know the the brand of air freshner you sprayed that caused this reaction to your poor dog?
Sorry to hear about your poor dog i too am in a similar position. i got my jack russell in april 2008in september she developed a skin condition and started atopica( cyclosporin)2009 i took up a carpet in my hall after locking a stray tom cat in to my house(he sprayed all over my carpets) my dog collapsed and appeared to have been poisoned. my vet gave her cpr iv steroids and fluids over night and 12 hours later was completly normal.
2 weeks later i picked up an airfreshner sprayed it once and my dog collapsed again. when i rang the company i explained that my dog had ingested the product and was told that i should take my dog to the vet straight away as there was very high levels of formaldhyde in the product. the product was labeled for use around animals and fish.
the company agreed to divulge the ingredients 60% formaldhyde which caused permanent damage to my dogs brain she takes 60mg's of pheoinobarbitoine daily and does even now have some minor seizure activity.
So i wish you the best of luck and hope that your dog will be ok.
Sorry to hear about your Boston and sorry to say I don't have time to do any researching on this. I will say that I used Advantage, when needed, on my dogs and cats and never had any problems. However, my neighbor bought and used the Advantix (?) at PetsMart on his dog one year and within a few hours she was showing neurological signs. I suppose it is possible. How is she acting now? Of course she wouldn't have a seizure while at the Vet's office. :-( Did they suggest any blood work to do?
Hope she is doing better.
What type of behavior did she exhibit during the episodes? Did she seem to be aware of her surroundings or was she kind of zoned out and not aware of what was going on around her? Was she vocalizing at all? Was she paddling with her feet?
