Yes getting him to a vet is best to find out exactly what is going on.
You might want to look up " CANINE VESTIBULAR DISEASE (CVD)". There are sites to explain this and the signs/reasons.
I had one of my older babies, a German Shorthair Pointer, who was 14 at the time, have this happen. But in his case it was brought on by stress. We had traveled up north for the holidays and although he traveled often, with his age and all the excitement that goes on w/ the holiday, it was just too much for him. One minute he was fine, the next this happened.
He was a big boy, 90-100lbs, and it was as if he was "drunk". Head tilted to one side, couldn't walk, circled, very confused and disorientated. We had to use a makeshift "sling" for him to take him outside to do his business. We used a large towel and put it underneath his belly area and held it up around his back to help him walk as we certainly couldn't carry him.
Thankfully it only lasted about a week in his case, but it can last longer.
I just looked up one site and it was very informative w/ the different types and so forth. I just put "canine vertigo" into google ( I couldn't remember the actual name) and it was the 4th site link on the page.
Hope your baby is better soon, and yes, please keep us posted with what is going on.
Take care, Teresa ; )
I agree w/ "Jaybay" prior comments,,,your dog sounds in trouble, please get into your vet, you just never know if its serious or not...better to be safe than sorry!
Welcome to the dog forum, keep us posted...sorry about your little friends issue, hope all goes well for you both...
You need to get your dog to a vet and the sooner the better. These kinds of sudden neurological symptoms can be very serious, so please don't wait! It could be anything from a stroke to a brain tumor or some kind of toxin (poisoning) from food or plants. In other words, it could be something life threatening.
I hope you can post back and let us know how he does and what your vet has to say.
