strange rash in young dog

Bandit is 10 months old and he's a large breed dog. He has a rash over a span of about an inch, inch and a half. I can't seem to get a good picture of it, so I'll have to do my best to describe it. It's pinkish and raised. It was dandruffy, like the skin was peeling or shedding off of it. That may have been from him scratching because he scratches there a lot. My mom is going to call our vet and just describe it to her over the phone. I'm going to ask my sister later tonight, she knows a lot about dogs. Anyone have any idea? I know this doesn't give much help, sorry about that.

my sister said he may have just irritated his skin by scratching too much. He does have fleas and they cause more of a problem for coco because he has a thicker coat than coco. I think he may have gotten something to irritate it when he was scratching it. like he scratched it and rolled in pond water or something.

Since dogs don't get rashes, it sounds like a bacterial infection of some kind. I would see a vet asap and get him on some antibiotics because waiting will only make it harder to clear and cost more in meds for you. I would make sure they culture it too. Could be allergy related but hard to tell if you don't get a skin scrape, cytology and culture done but most important is to get the poor thing some relief with maybe a short course of steroids and a longer round of antibiotics.
