With my dog I remind her of her obedience training at meal times everyday.
Her basic sit. Stay. If you can teach your dog this at meal time, then it's easy to incorporate the behavior at walk time too! Pamela
How old is your dog? Sounds frustrating. Has he had any training at all? If nit, I suggest you sign up for a least a basic obedience class. There are training methods to control this but can be difficult and long to try to explain here.
Please look up NILF ( Nothing In Life Is Free) dog training. You have to be consistent and patient. New behaviors are seldom learned overnight.
I would start by teaching him a Sit and Stay command at home. Then work into putting the leash on and give the command. When he does this, reward him. Teaching him to heel will help. Another method to us is an about face. If he starts pulling you, you abruptly turn around and go in the opposite direction and stop. Try walking again, he pulls, do an about face. Some eventually get the idea that if they pull, they are going to end up going nowhere. Some dogs train more easily then others.
Another thing you might try us a Gentle Leader or a no pull lead. You can look them up on the Internet.
Another good source might be Cesar Milan's web site.
Do look up,NILF and really consider an obedience class. They are usually once or twice a week but you still have to work daily with the dog at home. You may have a PetsMart near you that offers classes but that would not be my first choice. You might check with your Vet or check your area fir dog trainers.
Good luck and keep us posted.
