It has to be coccidia. There is a grasshopper genus named Toxidia but it has nothing to do with dogs. :)

I was wondering if she meant Cocci too. That can be very hard to clear up. You also have to be vigilant in your cleaning of areas where the dog potties. It is a good idea to clean bedding in hot water and clean the food and water bowls daily, preferably with some bleach solution.
Do you mean coccidia? Coccidia is an organism that inhabits the intestinal tract of every living creature, but sometimes they get out of hand and start to multiply unchecked. When this happens, the animal has severe diarrhea. It can dehydrate a puppy very quickly. There is an antibiotic called Albon that is used to treat coccidiosis. It usually responds quite well, but as I said, dehydration can occur so you have to be careful to keep the puppy well hydrated until the diarrhea is brought under control. It usually develops from the puppy being in unclean conditions, however it can and does happen in the best of conditions from time to time. A course of Albon usually clears it up, but it can be quite tenacious and hang on, needing more than one course of treatment.
