Do I continue to give my dog IV fluids everyday for the rest of his life?

We have a beautiful 6 year old boxer named Duke.  He is the smartest, sweetest, most loving dog anyone could ask for.   He has kidney disease.  We have been dealing with this for 7 months. He is on a strict Kidney diet only. He takes pepcid, for the stomach acid and probiotics for the diarehha daily.  He has been on and off antibiotics.  We give him 1 bag of IV solution a day. He goes to the vet every month and gets blood work done.  We have already maxed out one credit card.  I don't want money to be an object.  I feel horrible even thinking about the money part when Duke is our family.  I have 2 children and all the other bills that most people have.  What do I do?  Do I give him to someone who can afford $600 a month to keep his protein levels where they are supposed to be.  I don't want to give him up!

Maybe get a second opinion on what you're  doing is the correct approach. What exactly caused the  kidneys to start failing? Usually iv's are given to help reduce so much filtering at once by the kidneys..  create a gofundme page.. you might get sime help from friends/facebook friends of friends. Many have a soft spot for pets, even when they know the person.

I wish I had an answer for you, but I do feel your pain. Our 6 year old lab was diagnosed with Kidney disease from Lyme. Last week she was a beautiful, spunky lab. This week she just lays around. We are hydrating her daily also, giving her meds. Vet is very vague about outlook because we are still in the stages of diagnosis of severity. We also had an ultrasaound done and found that she has no spleen or adrenal glands. I am as a loss for words for you, and my heart is heavy for both of us. I just can't bear to let go yet, but I fear also that this is going to be an expensive road. If only they could talk to us..Good luck you and your family.  I wish I could help you more..I am seeking answers also. Kidney disease is bad enough, but wtf do we do about missing body parts too???
