tremors

After completing a schedule of oral antibiotics for a urinary tract infection ToTo now has tremors lasting only 15 seconds. He is a ten year old usually frisky Cairin Terrier.  He shakes his head just before going to sleep. Sometimes he is moving his mouth as it happens. He also spends a good deal of time inspecting his meal and tossing the bowl with his nose, sometimes advancing the bowl across the room. We have tried reducing his meal to less than half a portion. He does complete the small portion often and is given another small meal later.  We have another appointment   for him tomorrow. We are trying the Flagyl now though he has no obvious Gastrointestinal problem.  Hope someone out there can give us an idea about what is going on here. T Y!!!!

Hi Jerry Just dropped by...a bit late. ToTo  is still being treated for intermittent GI problems. He has lost weight slowly. 3 pounds over 4 months.  He looks brighter as the flagyl seems to be helping. Also taking short walks now. He continues to push his food bowl like a hockey puck!  He is so dear but worries us because of his extreme dislike for dog food...Blue or the Vet's ID special canned food are not appreciated. At least things are slowing down otherwise...hardly a tremor and less number 2 episodes.  Thank you for your support,,,,any other ideas would be appreciated.

We do not have any experience with tremors in our Westie, just skin and hair loss problems... and the bad behavior at his dinner plate you describe.  I think some of the behavior with the food dish is just being a Terrier.  Ours will take a piece of kibble into the living room and put it on the rug as part of a demonstration of demand for something more interesting/tasty to eat.

The little I know about tremors in humans is it is usually harmless or at least not life threatening.
