also the seoptated cystic hygroma is rare this is the main reason we terminated it was 8 mm and i was told baby would probably not survive to 20 - the tri 21 wasnt the reason i terminated !!!!
i terminated my baby at 13 wk 5 days due to trisomy 21 and septated cystic hygroma i had a medical term and 5 weeks later i had to have a surgical d & c due to retained tissue now i no the odds of having this happen again are small but the odds in me having a baby with tri 21 were 1 in 1000 and the odds of retained tissue were not high like 5 outta a 100 orr there abouts either im just unlucky or this is more common than i think i am 30 with 1 healthy 6 yr old girl .... i would love to hear from people who have gone on to have healthy children after such heartache
Hi
I am 30 years old. I am 8 weeks pregnant. This is my second pregnancy. I had a miscarriage last year at 17 weeks. I was later informed that the baby had Trisomy 21. I was also informed that this was a random event. I know exactly how you must feel. The Dr told me that i will go through the 12 week ultrasound combined with the blood work taken at 10 weeks. if the probabilities are low, i wont have to go through amniocentesis, as these tests are pretty reliable.
