aggression and unnecessary roughness in other

I have a 13 year old boy with Downs syndrome he is presently in a summer daycare program with nomal child.  Lately he has been showing signs of aggression  and unnecessary roughness to others. He is the oldest and largest child in this daycare and the only one with DS. HE IS A 6 YEAR OLD IN THE BODY OF A BUDDING TEENAGE BOY, For the most part he is sweet kind but in a flash he can: here is an example: he flipped a little girl for no apparent reason then hit a few other children. We talk, we take stuff away etc... Is this part of puberty?

I wonder if there is just too much noise and confusion there for your son..
Maybe he seeks a stiller calmer retreat.

Thanks for the help, I like the line "when he's good others will like him better" I'll try that line on him. The daycare is good they just aren't use to children with DS, I have my doubt we will be there next summer, Not because the DS but because he will be 14. He is getting very independent. Thanks again

We had some problems with our son also at that age, he is showing his independance and that can be directed in a better way by explaing to him that when he is good the others will like him better.  This needs alot of  repeated instructions, the punishment is only if he understands the why of it and if it really fits the offense.  do some investigating about the Day Care, are the others  being given preferiential treatment, you might like to spend a time there to find out just what is going on.   Good luck
