am i babying her too much?

She has down syndrome trisomy 21. She acts so motherly to other kids at school. But when she wants something she acts out..cries and scream like a 3-4 year old. Her dad and I thinks she acts out more cause we are babying her cause she has down syndrome. Sometimes we still treat her like a baby cause she doesn't understand half of what 7 year olds do and we understand that. Is it because we baby her too much or is that how she's suppose to act since she can't really express herself with words. She understands us no problem. Everyone in our family thinks she acts like that cause we are babying her... I just think she needs more attention and its not babying her. What do u think?

I hate to say it but you can baby her to much she's not  a baby and she knows how to play you. Yes they get aggressive because they aren't understood but buy babying her your making it ok for her to act out.which isn't so cute. When she's older. Expext from her what she can do or you'll create problems for yourself later. She's gonna get bigger and you won't be able to control her then.let her know what's expected of her now and then the problems you face when she's older wont be so bad.as with any child she needs rules and needs to obey them boundaries. Work with her teacher so she's not confused.shes happy your loving her but your not helping her by not making her follow basic rules that a child has to follow.she will love you no matter what. Btw my son has downs he's 15 I know  how you feel. Ask friends with special needs kids their opinion others advice might not be the best because they just don't know. Good luck .
