Also you should do some investigating of your own amnio and cvs  is not totally safe ... There is a risk with any INVASIVE
test .... and NOTHING is 100 % accurate

Hi ... I'm in the same situation ... I'm 44 ...have 4 children youngest is 12 ... I hope I don't offend you with my beliefs or opinions ...  I'm not sure about your religion ... I had the harmony test done at 10 weeks because of my age ... A week later my doc told me I was having a little girl and that she will have downs ... I was devistated ... Depressed ... Cryed...  Then started reading ... Googling ... Reading others personal experiences and feelings (forums) ... And most importantly Prayed...... I have come to realise that downs or not god thinks I'm special enough to bless me with a special baby girl ... Regardless of any handicap ... I am greatful to have the chance to live my baby ... Downs is not a horrible disease just a delay in learning and motor skills etc... I'm scared and  there is a risk of loosing my baby if I got an amnio or cvs test .... I don't want to do anything invasive to risk loosing her because knowing for sure isn't going to change anything .... I'm choosing to enjoy this pregnancy and give her the best opportunity I possibly can to make it here....   Sorry this is so long .... I'm here if you need a friend.or support ... I hope everything goes good for you ... Also keep in mind there is NO test that is 100 % sure ...

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi!
Amniocentesis is an absolutely safe procedure and rarely causes complications. It will help in diagnosing or ruling out DS in your baby. This is the most accurate test available. All ultrasound findings (if there are any) and blood tests can only indicate a risk for DS. Only amniocentesis can tell with reasonable certainty whether baby will have DS or not. So, be strong and positive and go for this test if your doctor advises it. Take care!

The medical advice given should not be considered a substitute for medical care provided by a doctor who can examine you. The advice may not be completely correct for you as the doctor cannot examine you and does not know your complete medical history. Hence this reply to your post should only be considered as a guiding line and you must consult your doctor at the earliest for your medical problem.
