:-( This is NOT my week.

Did the ED thing again yesterday/last night.  (Oh my goodness were they busy and SLOW; could've gotten the same accomplished in half that time another day I swear.  Didn't get out of there until like 3 AM—ugh!)

Well, I started having weird symptoms with my vision yesterday.  It's a little awkward typing this now but luckily I'm not a hunt-and-peck typist so I can type without seeing what I'm doing, hahaha.  Things that should be flat now look curved to me ... that's the best way I can explain it really.  They couldn't figure it out in the ED last night, so I have to see an opthamologist for more extensive evaluation today; they got me an appointment at 3:30 today so I'm anxious because I don't know what's wrong and I just want to know it's not serious.  Ugh.

Meanwhile, the waiting room of the ED was too hot so I just *knew* my heat intolerance was going to give me trouble.  I even told the nurse in triage it was going to be a problem and she said if somewhere cooler opened up where she could put me, she would.  Don't know if they were just that packed, or she forgot about me, but I was left in that heat for 2 hours so of course when I got up when I finally got called back, I started to go down.  Joy.  And the nurse that called me back?  She didn't even notice and just kept on walking and was miles away ahead of us LOL.  Luckily Mr. McDreamy caught me and lowered me onto my rollator and helped me get my bearings so I narrowly avoided completely passing out.  But then I was kind of stuck in that awful pre-syncope symptom mode while he tried to hurry to wheel me back to the room because I still wasn't lying down flat and I felt AWFUL and still felt like I was about to go out ANY SECOND.  The nurse just seemed confused about what to do, until I started dry heaving, at which point I guess she finally felt useful and zipped into another patient's room to grab me an emesis bag.  So yeah, I spent about 1/3 of my evening in the ED upside-down on the bed with my feet up on the angled up head part propped up on the pillow, so everyone who came in instantly assumed I was mentally deranged.  I had to keep explaining it was on purpose to get blood to my head because I was recovering from fainting.  LOL, oh the things we go through!!

On the bright side, that earned me three more bags for my "tank," so even though they couldn't figure out the vision thing, at least I got tanked up a little while I was there.  Also, in my spare time, since I couldn't read because of the vision thing, and trying to watch TV with it kind of makes me nauseated (they also gave me some IV zofran—that was good too), I sat around and inventoried my bruises from Tuesday's syncope.  It appears that I mostly hit parts of my body on my left side, LOL.  I must have gone down awfully slanty hahaha.

So yeah, that's my saga for now.  Please keep me in your thoughts that my vision thing is just a blip on the radar and nothing serious.  Thanks gang!

Big Hugs to you hun x

I love the way you keep your spirits high when you are having to deal with sooo much :)

keep us informed of how you are getting on, hopefully it will resolve itself.

I suffer from sight issues sometimes.  The worst was when I was hit by this fully, everything was toooo bright for me fuzzy and kinda 3D!!! Scary! but it has eased most of the time...I now just have times were things are not focused properly and a bit fuzzy! x

At the ophthalmologist appointment they put all sorts of weird machines and lights up to my eyes that I don't think I've ever seen before at an eye doctor, and I think more different kinds of drops too (though it's hard to say because until I got sick with dysauto, I didn't even need reading glasses so I hadn't been going to an eye doc regularly since I was a little kid and my mom made us go for checkups so maybe I just don't know what I'm talking about LOL).

My left eye definitely can't see very well right now ... it only made it to the second line of the chart.  My right eye is pretty hunky dorey ... it was my "weaker" eye as far as my reading glasses go before but now that *pales* in comparison to what my left eye is doing, so I'm just reading with that one now.  The main concern was possible damage to the retina or macula, which the metamorphopsia (yeah, say that three times fast, right?) I'm having right now could have been a symptom of apparenltly.  The good news is that my eye looks perfectly healthy so all that checks out fine.  :-D  HUGE relief.  HUGE!!  My pupils are a bit wonky, I guess, but it's nothing major or urgent and because the autonomic nervous system controls pupil dilation it might just be the dysautonomia.  At any rate, that'll get a more thorough evaluation at my next appointment.  Next up:  neuro-ophthalmologist.

Yes, there are some poor doctors that have to go all the way through ophthalmology AND neurology.  I can only imagine they must be 50 before they get through school and residency.  :-p  I hope they're paid well.  LOL  So I'll be seeing one of those for what I've been warned will be a LONG visit, to evaluate the eye-brain aspect of my vision to see what's up from that angle.  My hope is that the whole thing just goes away on its own, quite honestly.  Every time I lie down for a nap or to go to bed, I keep hoping that when I wake up it'll just be over.  Time will tell, I suppose.  If it doesn't go away, I'll cope.  One eye is better than none!  Ahoy, mateys!!  ;-)

Wow that stinks, I have noticed I too go to the appropriate doctor hoping it's not serious, that they can't find out why and then I chalk it up to another day in the neighborhood.

I have had eye issues at times.  Sometimes my eyes pulse, other times things are blurry or distorted, and I once lost all vision but could kinda see really bright bold colors if someone came into the room wearing red, orange, royal bright blue. I also could not tolerate light at all for a bit of time but am hoping it was a medication.
I have had my eyes checked twice in great depth and they are in great shape. Before I started dealing with all things autonomic I would have worried what was wrong if my eyes did that and the eye doctor could not give me an answer now as long as they can't I am ok with that.

Good luck and I hope this week is better!

Yeah, I generally have bad weeks (or months) from time-to-time, but I've actually been in a tailspin almost continually since not quite two weeks into January of this year.  It's just been a string of mostly unrelated things that happened one after another to put added stress on my autonomic nervous system; any bit of additional stress sends my dysautonomia into a flare and my body doesn't "bounce back" quickly at all.  That's why I think it's so important at this point for me to get the port and start IV treatment to stop this vicious cycle.

In the meantime, I'm making this eyepatch look GOOD!  :-p

I am sooo sorry to hear about your struggles - Indeed it is not your week :-(

You gonna have to learn how to avoid fainting skewwhiff if you want more even bruising ;-)

Hopefully your vision problem is due to the concussion that you certainly sustained when you fainted, and will go away on its own.

My thoughts are with you.
