How long should it take a barium meal to reach large bowel?

I had a barium meal test and it took quite a while for the barium to reach my large bowel.  Just over 80 minutes.  Before this I was told by the dr it would take an hour.  What is the normal time this would usually take?  Would this indicate slow digestion and maybe cause some of my nausea??

Any advice on this?

My understanding is that it takes 2 - 4 hours from the time food enters your stomach, until it leaves.  I recently had an upper endoscopy (for other reasons)  I hadn't eaten in 12 hours and the GI dr. said there was a lot of food in my stomach.  So, I have gastroparesis and would like to talk to a knowledgable dr about a pacemaker for my stomach.  The GI dr prescribed Reglan to help the stomach digest.  I really don't think it is doing anything, although it has only been around a week.

But, yes, this is the cause of my constant nausea.  The food sits in my stomach and rots.

Sorry, I don't know.  :-/  My knee-jerk reaction is that that's within normal limits, though.  But honestly, I could be totally wrong.  Anyone else know?
